What I Am
I am lovable and capable
I fully accept and believe in myself just the way I am.
I am a unique and special person. There is no one else quite like me in the entire world.
I accept all the different parts of myself.
I'm already worthy as a person. I don't have to prove myself.
My feelings and needs are important.
It's O.K. to think about what I need.
It's good for me to take time for myself.

1. Select your favorite affirmations from the list and write them down individually on 3X5 cards. Then read through the stack slowly once or twice a day. Looking at yourself in a mirror while reading the affirmations.
2. Another idea is to put the affirmations on tape. Repeat each affirmation twice and leave about 5-10 seconds between different statements. Listen to the tape once a day when you feel relaxed and receptive. You are most likely to internalize affirmations when you focus your attention on them while in a relaxed state.
3. You may wish to construct your own list of self-esteem affirmations.
